Luckily for you, even if you don’t have a spare room in your house, that doesn’t have to be the case. If you have a big enough bedroom, why not use a corner of the room to create a home office? Yes, working in your bedroom might take some getting used to, but if you can’t have an office in your home, it’s the next best thing.

To help you create a stylish and functional mini office in your bedroom, I thought I would share my top tips with you, below:

Define the space

What you don’t want is just to plonk a desk down in your bedroom and call it your office, as that will only end badly. Working from your bedroom is fine, but you need to ensure that you define the space where you work as your ‘office’.

There are lots of easy ways that you could do this, such as painting the wall that you work at in a different color to the rest of the room. That being said, just make sure that the color you pick compliments the color scheme of the rest of the room. Another option for defining the space is using an old wardrobe as your office. This may sound a little odd but believe it or not, an old wardrobe makes the perfect office.

Choose the perfect desk

Once you have defined the area that you will use for your office, the next step is to choose the perfect desk. Just because you are working from your bedroom, that doesn’t mean that you should opt for a desk that isn’t right.

Just like you would when choosing a desk for a normal office, take your time. Think about the type of work that you will be doing and the size and shape of the desk that you need. For instance, if you are a designer, you will need a large enough desk to have a computer and area to design on. Whereas, if you are a blogger, then you will only need enough room for a desk and laptop.

Top tip: If you want to be able to close the doors to your ‘office’ at night, opt for a desk that you can shut away. For example, antique bureaus are ideal, as you could use the pull out flap to work on during the day, and then at night, you could shut the whole thing up.

Ensure that you have lots of storage

Just like with any office, you will need to ensure that you have adequate storage space. Your work storage space should be different to your bedroom storage space, as you want to keep these two spaces as separate as possible.

For work storage, perhaps you could add shelves to the wall above your desk? Or, maybe you could invest in stacking boxes to place beside your desk for storage? You may need to think outside of the box when it comes to storage space for your mini office.

If you haven’t got a spare room in your home for an office, using part of your bedroom is ideal. To create an amazing bedroom office, make sure to follow the simple tips, above.
