Like the rest of the NorthEast, we’re enjoying an unexpected week of absolutely gorgeous weather this week! Which means getting to play outside for possibly one of the last times of the year. Thanks to our friends at Funsparks, my family and I have been making the most of the fleeting warm, sunny days by playing with some really awesome toys: Ring Stix and Jazzminton!

What is RingStix?
Easy to play. Simple and fast to learn. Glows in the dark. Floats in Water. What more could you ask for in a family-friendly toy? RingStix is played by launching a small ring into the air, to be caught by each player’s set of stix. While it’s sold in sets of four for two-player gaming, RingStix can also be played solo, or in large groups of even and uneven numbers of players.
RingStix comes in three versions: Standard, Pro, and Lite. The Standard and Pro varieties include four white Stix, one red ring, and one glow in the dark ring. The Stix on the Pro version also feature red molded grips for added comfort, and the carry bag is also included. The Lite set includes four colored stix (green, orange, blue, and purple) and a single red ring. Additional red rings, glow in the dark rings, and carry bags are also available to purchase on the RingStix site.
All the pieces in the three versions of RingStix float in the water, as well as being sturdy enough for play in high winds and long distances of 30 to 50 feet.
Ranging from $14.99 to $29.99, the three versions of RingStix offer a wide variety of play for users of all ages and skill levels. We found the RingStix lite to be our favorite: the stix are much lighter than the Standard and Pro versions, and my five-year-old preferred the vibrant, colorful stix over the white.
What is Jazzminton?
Calling this the “ultimate paddle game” is no exaggeration – Jazzminton is a two-player set that features two wooden paddles with foam grips and four birdies: two for slow play and two for a fast play version of the game. The birdies are super lightweight, making them safe for indoor play on cold and rainy days, and like the RingStix, the entire set floats in water for fun at the beach or the pool. This compact, versatile game has an endless amount of trick shots and play ideas, making it a perfect activity to pack for vacations, slumber parties, and more.
