The perfect engagement isn’t just about the proposal; it’s about the entire day. Here is a handful of ways to make it the best day ever!
Reserve a table
Whether you plan to get engaged in a restaurant or not, you’ll need to eat at some point! If you get married at a popular time, like Valentine’s Day or New Years Eve, everywhere nice might be booked. You don’t want to be chowing down a KFC after the big moment! You’ll want to be in great surroundings to start talking about planning your wedding! You could book a restaurant that holds special significance for your and your partner. Perhaps it could be the place where you first met or went on your first date. Or, go somewhere that would usually be out of your budget. Think amazing views over the city you live in. Mention that the meal is to celebrate your engagement when you call up to book and they’ll likely give you the best table in the house! Also, arrange to have champagne waiting for you. Oh, on the topic of champagne…
Book The Next Day off Work
An idyllic engagement doesn’t have to end when the day does. If you get engaged Monday through Thursday, or on a Sunday, book the next day of work too. If the engagement is a total surprise to your partner, speak to her boss directly a couple of weeks before. Let he or she know your plans to propose and request the day off on your partner’s behalf. For such a special occasion they are sure to say yes, as long as you give them plenty of notice. This means you can both relax, safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to go into work the next day. That being said, heading back to work afterwards is pretty fun for the girl. All together now; “Let’s see the ring!”
Insure The Rings
No matter what type of ring you buy, get it fully insured! This is of particular importance if you get a very unique ring. Not only will one-off or antique engagement rings likely be quite expensive, but they might also be the only one out there! Go for insurance which means that if the ring is lost, damaged or stolen, you can get a cash amount to replace it. This means you can take some time with your partner to search out a very similar one.
Consider Who Will Be There
Think carefully about your partner’s personal preference. Some people see their ideal engagement as intimate and private. In this case, arrange it so that it will be just the two of you. However, other people will love to share the moment with others. In this case, do it during a family get-together. You could even organise a flash mob at a festival or out in your local town!
Have The Moment Photographed
This one will probably only work if you get engaged in public. Have a colleague that your partner won’t recognize come along and either take pictures or film it. Be sure they get a snap of the moment you go down on one knee.
