Ozonation – Why and How
Ozone is a stronger germicidal than chlorine and kills bacteria without added chemicals. It reacts rapidly against viruses, protozoa and bacteria over a wide pH range. It removes nasty odors, color and taste. It is also useful for air purification. Ozonated water can be used for washing/bathing, drinking and ozonation (sometimes referred to as ozonisation) can extend the shelf life of certain foods.
Ozone is a gas which is made up of three oxygen atoms (O3), which is one of the most powerful oxidants. The oxidation process is able to attack microorganisms and a vast number of organic compounds.
